The World’s Population Is Growing. So Is the Role of Phosphate.
By 2050, the global population is expected to reach nearly 10 billion. Feeding everyone will require more than just more farms. It will require more from every acre of land. That’s where phosphate comes in.
The three essential nutrients for plant growth are nitrogen, phosphorus (phosphate), and potassium. Without them crops can still grow, but not to their full potential, leaving farmers with smaller, less productive harvests. With phosphate, crop yields can be 10 to 30 percent higher, making it one of the most effective tools farmers have to grow more food on the same amount of land.
A major share of America’s phosphate supply comes from Florida, home to some of the most productive phosphate operations in the world. This domestic resource is key to reducing reliance on imports and keeping America’s food supply strong.
Phosphate isn’t optional. It’s essential.
For farmers. For food. For the future.
